So much of what is identified as #Queer culture is really cis white LGB people desperately needing visible markers of Being Other that trans people and people of color cannot escape no matter how hard we try to assimilate and "pass".
Just something to think about this and every #LGBTPrideMonth.
I know today is the start of #LGBTPrideMonth, not #BlackHistoryMonth, but since this came up as part of my last post, it's worth mentioning.
We are sufficiently far away from the 19th Century that we Americans desperately need a refresher on what life was really like under #slavery, and who better to tell you than formerly enslaved people?
If we refuse to learn our own history and remember it, we will eventually repeat it.
