@crazyeddie So, I just re-translated Matthew 7:23 from the original #KoineGreek. I thought it would be of interest to you... (I have a bachelor's degree in Ancient Greek language, and have translated quite a few passages from the New Testament). My translations are a bit literal, but they have also given me insight into the author's original intent...

The "them" in this passage refers to the ones mentioned in line 22.

"And then I will express the opinion to them that I never knew you: Depart away from me, you who practice lawlessness in my name!"

The literal reading of the Greek for Luke 17:5 has the Apostles asking Jesus to "Add faith to us!".

Most English translations render this as "Increase our faith!".

Maybe it's just the awkward English of the literal translation but this makes me consider even more my dependence on Jesus for faith itself.

And as Jesus responds with the parable of the mustard seed my response should be - "Yes! Just a mustard seed amount - add faith to me!"

Off on a hike, but stopped to have a pre-hike latte. And, I'm finally getting to nouns in my #KoineGreek study - so stoked.
