I never know what to put here!
I'm a Christian trying to learn how to live well in the world. But the more I learn, the more I realize I don't know.
Recently moved to Tokyo, so going through a bit of upheaval in life.
Big fan of reading in the woods with a cup of coffee and calling it hiking.
After the gym, I go to McDonald's, which I find hilarious (I don't get out much). I get a small coffee and work on Greek šŸ˜‚
Recently, Friday nights have been for teaching fun ballet lessons online. These shoes are ill- fitting, and the socks are meant to help my feet stand out on video, but I should have chosen a brighter pair. It's really tiring, but also really enjoyable.
I was going to go to an event downtown, but was too tired. Decided to study #BiblicalGreek instead. I can't even describe how exciting it is to be working on translating simple sentences. Just a few pages ago, I was working on the alphabet!

#3GoodThings
I am exhausted, which seems like an extra good time to find 3 good things.
1. Visited a Lutheran church for the second time today. Still quite surprising to get a shot of wine in communion
2. The weather is gorgeous, and the buildings are tall enough to shade my eyes (couldn't find my sunnies in the rush out the door)
3. My whole body hurts from my first foray back into bouldering after a loooong hiatus. It's good because I'm grateful that I did it.

"As they were crossing the lake, Jesus warned them, 'Watch out! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and of Herod.'" ~ Mark 8:15

You think the U.S. is politically charged? We don't have anything on Israel in the first century. Bloody insurrections against Rome were frequent, and both Jesus' followers and enemies wanted him to take a stand on the political issues of the day. Should Jews cooperate if conscripted for labor (Matt 5:41)? Should Jews pay taxes to Caesar?

A thread on yeast ... 1/x

I’m old enough to remember being taught to ā€œdeconstructā€ in evangelical-conservative-Biblicist spaces.

We just called it working out our faith in fear & trembling then.

So that’s what I did.
Why?
Because that’s where Jesus called me to go.

&, honestly, it’s been awesome!

I've been hunting around the New Testament for verbs I know, and it took me a while to find βλέπω (I see). But I found it AND also as a surprise (haha), I ran across εί Ī¬Ī¼Ī±ĻĻ„Ļ‰Ī»ĻŒĻ‚ (he is a sinner, I think), which I just learned yesterday!

Verbs are finally starting to make sense! I've been working on memorizing them, and they just weren't clicking. So I wrote out the amalgamation, and things finally started to fall into place!
It's a great feeling! #studying #AncientGreek
Any recommendations for an ancient Greek New Testament on the Bible app? It looks like there are several, but I don't know the differences.
Off on a hike, but stopped to have a pre-hike latte. And, I'm finally getting to nouns in my #KoineGreek study - so stoked.
