I was trying to figure out what Elsie V. Ewald School of Dance is now called (I know her niece Kim Ewald-Green ran it and then merged it with another local studio). I took lessons there from ages of 2 to 12 (I'm a September baby), and I remember taking tap and ballet lessons with Kim.

Found this post about Kim--she was such a fantastic instructor. Hopefully our paths will cross again :)

Ever since I started writing about restaurants, I've dreaded January. It's when we see a flurry of closures.

Descendants opened about 6 years ago, and was a popular Waterloo Region brewpub. Just before the New Year, they announced their closure.

As I outlined in my year-end, 2022 was incredibly tough on restaurants (including bars). I'm thinking we'll see more of this throughout 2023.
