Tomorrow I should receive my new #keebio Iris LM #keyboard.

I'm switching my local #Linux #development vm from vanilla #Ubuntu to #linuxmint #xfce.

I'm also in the middle of moving from #vscode to #neovim for #coding.

That's a lot of change crammed together for my day to day work. Ngl I'm wondering if this is a good idea. But #yolo.

I order a Iris LM #keyboard from #keebio. It'll be my first programmable keyboard, and my first keyboard with the "staggered" keyboard layout instead of the traditional diagonal columns.

I'm told it will take several weeks to rebuild the muscle memory on the new layout.

Should be on my doorstep in few days.

Unfortunately my experience with fitting of already "standard" 60% PCBs with "standard" 60% cases (especially wooden ones in combination with SA profile keycaps) is anything but good.

Got my wife a Chocopad from keeb.io (link below) to help her with macros and common key combos/commands in Excel and she couldn't be happier. She wanted to put it together and was thrilled to see it come together.

After 6 months of using it, I finally made the tutorial on how to compile and install a #Vial compatible #qmk firmware on the #keebio iris rev8 ergonomic mechanical keyboard, using Arch Linux.

I also show how to tweak the source code for the firmware to get 8 layers instead of the default 4! (the Raspberry Pi controller can take it)

#FreeSoftware is great, as you have the right to modify the code for it to do exactly what you need it for!

I have been waiting for this piece of hardware to be available in the store for quite a while, and then waited a long time for the keycaps to get through customs, but now I have it, assembled in its full glory!

I'll "only" have to figure out how to take full advantage of the RP2040 chip, so I can have the best experience!

I'm trying to get my #KeebIo Iris rev. 8 configured on #ArchLinux, so I downloaded the #Vial appimage from GitHub, and created an udev rule in accordance with their guide. Unfortunately, it does not work.

I also got the #Via appimage, which works, it prompted me for a root password and created an udev rule.

Is there a reason for that? Is it just a fact that Vial support less keyboard types than Via?
