Crest of LightI am starting to use krunner to launch my apps more than the actual Application Launcher in many cases. Krunner is simply better at that and has a host of other functions. The super simple command I use: ctrl+alt+/ pulls it up and I am typing. The App Launcher can be helpful...I don't find myself using it overly much these days!

Being through my use of #Emacs also #Lisp guy made me want to go trough a list like in lisp,
with a while-let unfortunately #CXX doesn't have such a feature.
The first other result I got was about #rust. It does awfully look like lisp from that point of view.
Just the syntax is pretty weird seeing it from that angle.

MikaI loveeee #KDE 's #Krunner functionality to quickly gimme currency conversions - it's one of many nice tools u have on #macOS with #Spotlight. What'd be a nice improvement tho, is for it to default the results to YOUR local currency - like what #Apple 's Spotlight does. That way, you can skip explicitly specifying the currency you wish for it to convert to.
I'd investigate the code myself to see if I could write the changes needed for this, or at least create a FR, but I genuinely can never remember where to do so lol. Screw #GitHub, but projects on GH are a loooot easier/more accessible for people to report issues or submit PRs too.

ARGVMI~1.PIFI just discovered that the #macOS #TextEdit app has an interesting feature: it can do math!
For example, if you type the expression “640*480=” then it will autocomplete “307,200”.
I wonder if any other #editor s have this feature?
#KDE 's #Kate does not have this feature, but #KDEPlasma does have something similar: you can type “640*480” into #KRunner (Alt+F2) and press Shift+Enter to copy the answer into the clipboard. Then you can paste it into your document.

Andrew WoodsApps like Raycast, KRunner, Alfred, and Spotlight are commonly called Application Launchers. They’re so much more than that though. If you really about it — They’re really GUI Command Lines. GCL for short.

Do any #Linux/#KDE users have an idea why an app, on a #KDEPlasma desktop, might start fine on the terminal, and application launcher, but not on #KRunner?
This has been happening for a long time now for me with #virt-manager - tho that wasn't the case in the past for just as long. That being said, IIRC it's happened with the application launcher too, tho that works for me atm, but KRunner almost always fails to launch it - only the app icon appears to be loading on the dock/panel, then it disappears.
When it does happen, journalctl would report this error:
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'libvirt'---
Update: found the culprit - #toshy, which is a really cool keymapping tool I use on my desktop that replicates #macOS like keybinds on a Linux desktop.
It's something to do with their #Python virtualenv that's somehow being used by KRunner, that isn't being used elsewhere like on my shell terminal or application launcher. The missing python library isn't installed on that Toshy virtual env - expectedly. Not sure what to do about it just yet.

Update 2: Issued a bug report on Toshy, to see if they would know if this is something they could fix. A lot more context to this issue and my debugging could be found in that report.

Final update: It's a known issue caused by Toshy, and it's been fixed since March - I updated it and it works perfectly now YIPPEE <3
