Make no mistake. Judge Merchan is a traitor to the American people and he just sold out our professed system of democracy. If the rule of law does not apply -- if there are no real consequences for the most powerful people in this country -- then the rule of law means NOTHING. There will be more vigilantes. The Manhattan district attorney’s office said Tuesday it would agree to postpone Donald Trump’s sentencing in his hush money case to give prosecutors time to litigate the president-elect’s expected motion to dismiss the case.
So it turns out that Alvin Bragg, not Judge Merchan, is the largely spineless one. Bragg has decided to pause the case, thus preventing the Trump sentencing from being upheld. If there is no accountability, there is no democracy. This is a dark day in America. Have we learned nothing? Fascists will continue to circumvent the law. Trump doesn't care about the Constitution. That requires street fighting.
