Exciting news!

After a preliminary meeting a couple of weeks ago, in December the Chevra is beginning talks in earnest with the local Jewish Federation office to jointly work on a Miqvah and Dayschool project, with a "Red Tent" Room or Small Sanctuary for Jewish Renewal style services.

This will be a big undertaking for the community. There hasn't been a community Miqvah here since the 80s, when the old downtown synagogue was replaced by the newer one in the subburbs.

A dayschool facility is needed because in this red state, christianity is going to be forced down kid's throats in public schools. Families need options.

Stay tuned!

Undertorah: An Earth-Based Kabbalah of Dreams by Jill Hammer.

A book about dreams that gets across the *feeling* of dreams - less technical than some of her other work, but still an interesting read.

It took me a few chapters to see that was where the book was going. I felt the Jewish connections were a bit more understated in this book than in some of her other work; I think I expected more 'technical' Kabbalah after having read her book o...

What upsets some Jews on Mastodon is that they don't want us non-Orthodox Jews to learn Chassidus or even be friends with Orthodox Jews. We however feel that friendship and reading is not threatening. Open your hearts to the many non-Orthodox Jews discovering neo-Hasidut. This is mainstream across #ReformJudaism, #JewishRenewal, and #ConservativeJudaism.
