Is it just me... or are there gaps in describing the data analysis here? An interesting topic to be sure; but I'm finding there to be methodological omissions. I can see -- through eagle eye scrutiny -- what the process was.

A new, interesting study in #JASIST! The authors identified significant disparities, with minoritized scholars being underrepresented and receiving fewer #citations, especially in prestigious institutions, compared to their white male counterparts:

 https://doi.org/10.1002/asi.24931

They coin the term Howard-Harvard effect to describe how prestigious institutions marginalize the #research topics of minoritized scholars more than mission-driven institutions.

Based on feedback from reviewers, @RongNi and I have revised our paper 'To Preprint or Not to Preprint: A Global Researcher Survey' https://doi.org/10.31235/osf.io/k7reb. While the changes are relatively minor, we believe they have led to valuable improvements of our work.

We are grateful to the anonymous reviewers of the Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology #JASIST and the non-anonymous reviewers of the @ASAPbio Meta-Research Crowd https://prereview.org/reviews/8275863.

🤩 The papers could not be more timely in times of generative AI and already have had nice impact, with 67 citations in total so far.

The unexpected results in #JASIST - "our findings clarify current debates on citation concentration and show that, contrary to a widely-held belief, citations are increasingly scattered":

So far, I've read that most people prefer to cite what everyone else is citing. 🤔
