It’s the year of our Lord 2025 … and thanks to @faheus’ excellent Nerdsniping skills I’m trying to get my old #FireWire #ieee1394 Audio Interfaces running reliably in Linux ;)

Verdict so far: MOTU amazingly works very well using in-kernel ALSA FireWire drivers. FFADO (in its pipewire-incarnation) still a catastrophe, as was 12 years ago. EchoAudio still randomly crashes machines as was the case 2014 :).

#dvgrab works for hours, then fails to see any camera even while in the middle of capturing. If it is a bug I hope it gets fixed, if it isn't then I'm at a loss for words on what it could be.
