"Nothing has been more useful to the administrators seeking to transform the entire #university into a business school than to hear from the #humanists themselves that their tradition is really only the propaganda wing of #whitesupremacy, #patriarchy, and #imperialism. Imagining themselves as occupying a site of resistance to #capitalism they end up among its most obedient lackeys."

Opinion | How Humanists Helped Wreck the Humanities

Administrators, ideologues, and yes — professors too — share the blame. But all is not lost.

Since Christianity turned out to be false, I would like a religion that focuses on being good people and making the world a better place. Unfortunately, it seems that every #religion includes (dubious at best) metaphysical claims. Even #UnitarianUniversalists claim that there is one God and everyone goes to heaven. OTOH, #Humanists seem to mandate #atheism. How can anyone know? I just want a group focused on doing good for its own sake that I can meet with regularly.
Watch this new animation for schools by #HumanistsUK. When it comes to #religion or belief, the state should treat and protect everyone equally. In a diverse society, secularism helps make that possible. Find out more about #secularism today! https://understandinghumanism.org.uk/secularism/ #humanism #humanists

#Mastodon #News When i arrived here the 1st user i followed was @georgetakei
He is always present and very active and a beacon of #Humanity and #Decency in the mad #World we live in, where empathy and human values are considered, sadly by many, as secondary.

The second one i tried to follow was #RobReiner and i had to deal with the fact that he was never active here.

Still i remember his posts on #Twitter; his late father ones as well.
Both #Humanists just for their empathy towards the less favored.

#RIP #RobReiner #Democracy lost a warrior, History won a Hero.

#BOOK BY JOHN FUGELSANG

That a book defending #Christianity and the #Bible against #fundamentalists and #religious #nationalists could be relevant to #humanists might seem contradictory. However, the author’s approach—pairing #extremists’ stated beliefs with #Christ’s actual words—makes for informative and even entertaining reading.
