#Venting #Europe sense of guilt cause we let the #Holocaust happen in front of our eyes and just choose to ignore it altogether. If you Still deny it happened then you do not deserve the air you breath. If you use it to justify the support for #Israel actions since October 7 till now, then you are a #humananimal and still do not deserve the air you breath
''#Risk #assessment: The overall public #health risk from currently known #influenza viruses at the #humananimal interface has not changed, and sustained human-to-human transmission of the viruses from these cases is currently considered unlikely. Although human infections with viruses of animal origin are unusual, they are not unexpected at the human-animal interface wherever these viruses circulate in animals. ''

The 2023 Conference of the Australasian Animal Studies Association will be held in-person at the University of Sydney on the 27th and 28th of November 2023.

The Conference theme – Animal Cultures – encompasses emerging scientific and philosophical considerations of culture in non-human animal communities, as well as culturally-informed human views of other animals. Cultural transmission has been observed in a wide array of species, facilitating the acquisition of social and ecological knowledge and behaviours that influence biological and social wellbeing.

Applying a cultural focus can be problematic, as it considers non-human animals through an anthropocentric construct. Animal Cultures will address the affordances and complexities of β€œculture/s” within animal studies.

Delighted to have a chapter in this gorgeous book published last week. Edited by the marvellous Hannah Stark, my chapter considers strategies employed for more-than-human witnessing of extinction by contemporary art: cephalopods, energy landscapes, witnessing, hydrofeminism, & saltwater aesthetics. It’s a terrific book. #extiction #anthropocene #memorial #humananimal #loss #morethanhuman #energylandscapes #cephalopod #contempraryart
