History you can hold in your hand! 🏺✨

🔥 The AIncient Studies Lab at the @uzh just got an upgrade: A 3D scanner from @Creality_Official 🩻 and a 3D printer from @bambulab_official 🖨️.

Check out our first prints: 👸 The iconic bust of Nofretete (based on the high-res scan by the @kulturSPK see https://www.smb.museum/museen-einrichtungen/aegyptisches-museum-und-papyrussammlung/sammeln-forschen/bueste-der-nofretete/die-replik) and a self-scanned ancient Roman votive inscription 🪦.

This is only the start. We are exploring how 3D models help us gain a better grasp (literally 😉) of the past.

👇 Tell us: What historical object have you always wanted to see (and touch) up close?

Internal-combustion engine | Visual Chronology of Science & Discovery

Instead of using steam to move a piston, what if flammable vapor and air could explode within a cylinder to move the piston instead? Although still too inefficient to be practical, this engine powered small vehicles and represented a significant step in the evolution of modern transportation.
