Sadly, I've decided to abandon this project. It was a cardigan that I was going to reknit the sleeves, but I can't get the join to look right. I've concluded that the cardigan body is just too big for me so trying to force it to fit, makes the shape strange. It probably is possible with more knowledge and skill..
