Spring Knitting: The finishing of things: Short socks
My first short socks of the year. Top down, heel flap, and gusset. They're 100% cotton, a little heavier weight than usual, and a little stiff (for now). They fit my feet exactly, though, so they are very comfortable! Bring it on, summer!

The afterthought heel was a success! It turned out quite pointy and I’m not a fan of the shape but hopefully the recipient will like it. I don’t think I will be using this technique on future sock projects though.
I am now commencing the second sock whilst sitting in the garden to cool down in the evening breeze.
WIP Wednesday
This week's work in progress is the first of a pair of short socks for summer. Socks are still my favorite knitting to bring along when I may be waiting or biding my time. I'm about halfway through the gusset on this sock. Time for some ferry knitting!

It’s #WIPWednesday again and I have finished the first sock I am making for a family member. It is constructed with an afterthought heel, so today I am tackling a new technique! I shall post with either good or bad news about the progress.
The pattern is “Elise” by Ashley Ratnam and is featured in “52 Weeks Of Socks Vol 2”.
I'm trying out a new type of sock yarn. This is a cotton-nylon blend. I kind of dislike the feel of handling cotton (sensory issues), but it feels okay on my feet so far. And the stitch definition is great! I can see all the mistakes!
My main worry is about stretching along its length. I'm not sure how much negative ease I should use to account for that. I guess I can always split it later and take out a few rows.
I finished my Christmas socks! Time to pick the yarn for the next pair 😄

I've knit 14 pairs of socks for myself so far. (The most recent pair isn't in this photo). I'd like to have about twice this many, eventually. That way, I can reduce the amount I need to darn/patch by rotating through them. It's kind of surprising how these things build up over time.
The completed “Daybreak” socks are so cosy! I mostly followed the pattern but made a size modification to ensure a comfortable fit. I am very happy with how they turned out. ☺️
I also got my new toy (Addi Crasytrio) in the post yesterday so of course immediately cast on a sock to test them out. I am still trying to learn the best grip for knitting with them but I am enjoying them so far.
I have a feeling the rest of my knitting time this weekend will be sock related…
Traveling again - this time it's a fiber festival I've wanted to go to for a few years but it's about 4 hours away. This year there's another event on the same weekend somewhat near that festival so the hours spent going there seem used better.
