I don't generally talk about my "fitness journey" on social media because, that's not exactly who I normally am.
I'm the guy posting up weird sodas or manga or goofy jokes about my kids. But, here I am, posting a gym selfie.
I have been very out of shape for a long time. I didn't care for a while, but after
#COVID hit me and my lungs got weaker; all of me got weaker. I had been sedentary for a long time. With my wife actively going to the gym, I finally decided to do the same.
It's not easy, and I'm generally going around 5 am so I can avoid rushes and do so before my kids get up, but it's been worth it.
When I was 17, I was in track and cross country. At that point, I was this tiny waif of a thing, but I could push 250 pounds for a few reps on a leg press. I can do the same thing now at 40. Also, I could bench like about 45 pounds then. I can do more than that now. I also recently discovered that I can lift up my 14 year old and hold them like a baby in my arms. I could do none of this six months ago.
Anyway - yea, I've been going to the gym, I'm getting stronger, I need to keep encouraging myself. Oh, and this shirt with Skeletor on it rules.
