Is anyone maintaining a fork of #gradience now that its archived?

#gtk #linux

I'm again pretty late to notice that Gradiance had been archived and maintenance stop by the Gradience Team. Just updated my flatpaks and notice a massage warning about the Gradience stable package isn't maintained anymore and will not get any updates anymore. After that I looked up the GitHub account of the project where was a link to a blog-post from their website detailing what had happened with the project.

Gradience (Theming App) Has Archived Its Github Page

Sad news for fans of Gradience, the 3rd-party tool to customise the look of GTK4/libadwaita apps, as this weekend (June 29, 2024) the Github project page was made read-only and archived. News is sure to drain the colour from those who avidly use this tool, as it has proven popular with those seeing to personalise the libadwaita stylesheet to better suit their tastes. But this move isn’t entirely out of the blue. In April, Gradience added a note to top of its Github page mentioning that the app was “looking for a maintainer(s)! if you know Python and GTK4/Libadwaita and

OMG! Ubuntu

Gradience, the popular theming app with over 1.3k stars on GitHub, is looking for a maintainer!

If you are familiar with Python and GTK4/libadwaita and are interested in becoming a Gradience maintainer or contributing to the project, please chip in on Matrix or Discord!

The current maintainer has been inactive for quite some time. In February, after half a year of inactivity, they announced that they were working on Gradience again, but no progress has been made since then.

Gradience broke my gtk.css again  I don't know why I keep making this same mistake, but also, please back up files if you're going to just blindly overwrite them. mv gtk.css gtk.css.old is not that hard, and I would've done it myself if I thought resetting my Gradience configuration was going to just straight up delete the CSS file.

So what happened to the #Gradience flatpak? Just curious why it doesn’t completely change the theme on #Gnome anymore? Well, it still does but now with core gnome applications the side panel doesn’t reflect the correct color scheme. I’ve noticed this started happening with #gnome46
