Founded in 1886, the hospital was originally based in a converted house on South Cumberland Road. In 1890, it moved to Kingston House in Tradeston before moving to this purpose-built hospital on Coplaw Street in 1895. A nurses' home was added in 1904, and further were added in 1927 and 1936. In 1948, it became the nascent NHS, and was finally closed in 1991.

Love what's been done to this barrel outside the Transylvania Shop on Victoria Road in Glasgow. It's just a great bit of decoration that makes an interesting addition to the typical 'barrel as furniture' genre.

The end close in a curving block of tenements lining Albert Avenue on the Southside of Glasgow. From this angle, you can see the difference between the higher quality smoothed stonework used for the front of the tenememt and the lower quality and rougher stone used for the rear sections.
