When I was charging my #emergency #lights (for the huge storm that was supposed to hit us) the other week, one failed to charge & instead turned itself on & then couldn’t be turned off, because it hadn’t been turned on. 🤪

So each time I tried to charge it, it turned itself on & drained the charge.

Very strange.

It was a #GoalZero #Lighthouse600.

I have a replacement on the way, a #PrincetonTec #HelixLI.

Two very different looking emergency / #camping lights.

So far, so good. I spent a few hours charging lamps & lanterns last night.

More than I expect us to need but extras if the neighbours need light or to use the lights to charge their phones.

My #BellsPalsy scare yesterday afternoon came almost 8 years to the day from when I came down with it. Huh!

I got home as fast as possible - took some nerve meds & slept until about 9pm.

I had a late “#dinner” of 2 tomatoes & then noticed that my large #GoalZero #powerstation had died sometime during the day.

It’s main duty was running my bedside fridge/freezer, the fan when it’s hot & charging my tech devices.

I switched the fridge to a smaller power station & fell asleep again. *sigh*

I’m charging a 2nd #battery for my #WhipperSnipper on my bedside table using the bedroom #GoalZero #powerbank.

My good old Goal Zero Venture 30 power bank died recently - lit up one blue LED in the middle and never turned on again. I emailed GoalZero asking for any clues and if they have none - maybe a hint on disassembling this glued down thingie, but obviously - and as always - they didn't reply.

So I cracked it open and... I wish it was a cap, but turns out it's this UCS1002-2 IC - I wonder if it's worth replacing...

Using a little #solarpower today to charge one of my power banks. Above is the modern #GoalZero 10, below is older 1st/2nd gen GoalZero 7.

Biggest flaw with the GoalZero 7 is that if the panels get shaded, they will stop outputting power until the load is removed and reattached. If you are anywhere with even slight cloud cover this is a huge problem. The 10 will auto-restart after being shaded.

I kind of like the older one’s packaging but the newer one is more streamlined.

I’m doubting the #TS80P will be useful for thicker gauge automotive wiring, but with its higher wattage, maybe it’ll surprise me (especially if I pick up an different tip.) Certainly will be useful for thinner gauge automotive wiring and the portability is insane.

I’ve used my old 110V AC soldering iron off-grid using my #GoalZero #Yeti400’s 300W pure-sine AC inverter in the past (though, recently,not effectively), so will probably pick up a butane soldering iron for larger off-grid tasks.
