I was recently talking with a NZ business man I know (of my age) about advice on the possibility of doing business with someone they also knew.

I was absolutely astounded when he casually said yeah he might be worth approaching, unfortunately he is very Jewish.

I asked; sorry what? Do you mean he is pro Israel's genocide?

No, I mean he's tight with $.

Out of nowhere I said Wow, I haven't heard that particular smear since I was in primary school.

Which now, looking back, seems why it is so important to include #TeTiritiOWaitangi history and te reo as part of NZ school's education and celebrate the multiples of ethnicity's, cultures, faiths and languages. Children learning and understanding about the people in their communities and everyday lives is critical for a united country. Te Tiriti o Waitangi is the vehicle that brought us all together and te tiriti should be our guiding light moving forward.

I have been noticing many right wing associates are surprising me by revealing their true character and seeming confidence in making blatant racist slurs only to become abusive when called out on it.

I had to turn RNZ off this morning when Erica Stanford was claiming it unbalanced to teach #NewZealand history from a tangata whenua perspective when there's now so many different cultures living in Aotearoa.
It would be helpful for everyone, Māori, Pākehā and Tauiwi, to learn our history so they understand why they are either Tangata Whenua or Tangata Tiriti and what that means.
