Something I find very dishonest about Simeon Brown, the Nact Fist govt and #NZMedia argument that Māori Wards are undemocratic. When in reality electors enrolled on the Māori electoral roll will vote for candidates standing for Māori wards. Similarly, electors enrolled on the general electoral roll will vote for candidates standing for general wards. Māori wards exist to give local iwi representation in local govt.
