Jan 19th Gaza update /Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported that Zakaria al-Zubaidi and Ayham Kamamji, two Palestinian detainees who were among those who carried out Operation Freedom Tunnel, will be among those released in the first phase.

As part of phase one of the ceasefire agreement, the sixth term states that a large-scale prisoner exchange will occur, including the release of 1,000 prisoners from Gaza and hundreds of detainees serving lengthy sentences. #gaza #gazaupdate #ceasefire

We speak with Palestinian novelist, poet and activist Susan Abulhawa, who is in Cairo and just returned from two weeks in Gaza. “What’s happening to people isn’t just this death and dismemberment and hunger. It is a total denigration of their personhood, of their whole society,” says Abulhawa. “What I witnessed personally in Rafah and some of the middle areas is incomprehensible, and I will call it a holocaust — and I don’t use that word lightly. But it is absolutely that.”

The death toll from Israel’s genocide in Gaza has surpassed 11,300. However, Israel’s genocidal war on the enclave has disrupted communications making it impossible to provide accurate and up-to-date numbers in relation to the death toll.

Israeli forces conducted another raid on the al-Shifa Hospital. They destroyed the specialist surgery building and blew up a warehouse containing medicine and medical equipment.

The death toll from Israel's genocide in Gaza has risen to at least 11,320, including 4,620 children and 3,145 women.

There have been up to 40 Israeli raids every day across the occupied West Bank. During recent raids, Israeli occupation forces have abducted dozens of people across the West Bank.

Dozens of Israeli soldiers have entered the al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. Around 7,500 Palestinians are sheltering in the hospital and remain trapped.
