The Caribbean climate justice agenda: activities and opportunities for youth, women, and more – Petchary’s Blog
As the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) wraps up its big conference of Heads of Government in Montego Bay this week, it’s safe to say that the issue of climate change – or should I say, crisis – is very much up there at the top of the agenda. But how to get involved in finding the solutions?
Here are a few things happening. Firstly, please note in your diary that the Caribbean Youth Environment and Climate Change Conference will take place in Kingston from September 10 – 12, 2025. If you wish to attend in person, please RSVP by July 12. You will also be able to participate online. It’s open to all Caribbean Nationals. Limited spots available, so register today and contact them by email for further information. This is a partnership between the Caribbean Youth Climate Council and the Children and Youth Major Group to UNEP.
The theme is: “Securing our Planet for Current and Future Generations.”

Programs like SeaSisters help create role models like Udani and Amzhii.
They’re challenging social norms and transforming perceptions around women surfing, leading to a cultural shift.
"I want to be like Udani akka when I grow up,” one young girl smiles.
Thanks for the prompt @teknoteacher
I forget to post sometimes, but Education engagement is still a huge part of my role. After OggCamp I did the North Star Science School event which went very well, then we tentatively asked Schools if they wanted it and we've had lots of bookings, done several this year with 3 sessions next week and 2 the week after. Doing Primary through to Secondary and it's going really well. #STEM #Futuregeneration #EngineeringEducation
