Finally! The last issues I was tracking for #Ecne are resolved

The 3rd beta ISO set should be available in the next few days

If no blocking issues are found, we might have an RC ISO set by September.
Getting closer to a final release 🤯

Thank you to everyone who has been testing and reporting issues

BTW, did you know Ecne will ship #FreeCAD? It's not the latest release, but it will be available 😉 Thank you @kkremitzki

Stay tuned for the next ISOs 🤟

The #Gridfinity will continue until morale improves.

This was my first proper project using ABS-GF, and I'm _really_ happy with it. Even if the grey attracts _every_ spec of dirt and grime in a ten-mile radius. Major, _major_ props to the (author of) the Gridfinity addon for #FreeCAD. The dice tray, as well as the bin for d6s, were both generated in it.

Testing/developing #FreeCAD XR workbench without VR hardware should be easier now.

I created https://github.com/kwahoo2/remote-mndset This is a client for @MonadoXR remote driver. The client supports both keyboard/mouse or gamepad input.

Of course, remote-mndset can be used with any OpenXR application, as long as the Monado runtime is used.

Designing interlocking storage boxes in #FreeCAD

Interlocking Storage Bins in FreeCAD

Needing some storage bins for the garage I came up with the idea for self-aligning stackable bins. Cut from 3/4" ply, the trick is the 45deg on the bottom panel and inside edges. My first attempt was a quick hand drawing and somewhere along the way I ended up with misaligned pieces. So in order to ensure my dimensions made sense I figured I’d FreeCAD it up. It’s pretty simple but still parametric, able to adjust for material thickness and inner dimensions. Plus, I figured if the design did work out (so far it’s looking good!) I could CNC batches of them, that would only need the 45def chamfers routed and final assembly. Would also update to include hand holds.

oit blarg!

If you come to #FreeCAD from #KiCAD you'll find a new appreciation for KiCAD's built-in raytracer.

The Render workbench addon for FreeCAD could be a lot worse but it can't compete with a built-in feature that literally only requires pushing one button and renders iteratively, and directly over the 3d viewport. In KiCAD you can even move the model interactively without disabling the raytracer.

another day, another 3D model created in #freeCAD #3dprint #printables #prusa #prusa3d #prusacoreone

EufyCam 2C Stand

Simple stand, allowing me to leave my camera around, without risking toppling by animals or wind.

Made a tube with nice #Voronoi patterns, using the Nodes addon on #FreeCAD. https://www.printables.com/model/1396697-voronoi-tube-using-freecad

Long time since I uploaded a model to #Printables BTW.

Jetzt hab ich schnell einen Endschalter für diesen Pneumatikzylinder gebraucht ... Also ab ans CAD und dann mal eben ausdrucken ...
Eine Led für den status darf natürlich auch nicht fehlen ...

Hi All, I could use some advice. #askfedi #3d #freecad #3dscanning

I'm looking for a free or inexpensive solution to do some scanning or photogrammetry to be able to build one of a kind parts for a car.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance, and please boost for reach.

*edit, I should have mentioned, I prefer an android app, or even desktop that uses DLSR photos ... but iphone is always something I can look into.

Rounding out quite a busy day with an oddly complex little @FreeCAD job. I was going to use the McMaster Carr step file for these 1/2" schedule 40 90 degree elbows but then read their prohibitive license so just redrawn them after a little head scratching about how to do it (It's 2 additive pipes with the inner ones section drawn on a datum plane). #FreeCAD #CAD

I finished the project. It turned out surprisingly good :)
