I liked Andy Weir's The Martian (book and movie), and have been looking forward to eventually seeing/reading Project Hail Mary.

But after his recent comments describing all modern Trek as shit (weaselly "I was taken out of context" semi-apology and all), and a comment from a few years ago about how he hates politics in SF, writes SF without any political content (which, as Foz Meadows points out in the linked article, is ridiculous), and thinks Star Trek doesn't need all the politics and just wants to see Klingons and Romulans shooting at each other....

My current opinion is that he's a very popular author who is exhibiting a truly remarkable lack of both personal introspection and critical thought regarding science fiction as a whole, and is apparently quite a bit of an ass, to boot.

@bookstodon #FozMeadows’ #AStrangeAndStubbornEndurance has been a real highlight. I’m about 70% through so far.
Heard them talk about it on @mrmaresca’s podcast & wanted to give it a try, & so glad I did. It’s brutal in its depiction of post-SA trauma, but a very tender m/m #fantasy #romance with lovely vibes, and thoughtfully #QueerNorm & uniquely intimate #WorldBuilding. Some of the best thought out disability rep I’ve read in fantasy in a while too. #MMRomance
