Being #figuary I decided to take 30 minutes today and try out some figure drawing. Turns out worse and better than I expected... 30 seconds are too little to even understand what's happening.

During @croquiscafe's #figuary, I was captivated by the unique features, expressions and style of @emilymetalskin, as well as the way she seems a bit not from this time, and painted her in digital oils. This is my sixth attempt at a realistic portrait, and I enjoyed the process!

I really enjoyed drawing Astrid’s elegant long lines and those beautiful red braids, but most of all how there is something very mysterious about her, which even made a floating pose work.

On day 6, Léa Déru was posing. I really like her elegance, her soft edginess and the way her poses are always special and recognisable, like a handwriting. To me, that's an art form of its own – and a good reason to once more pause the video and take time to draw!
