Art H.Finally starting to feel good after Field Day. It's always such a physical drain on me and I always take off work the following Monday just to recover.
This year I bought a tent and air mattress so I could get some better rest instead of putting the passenger seat in my car all the way back and "sleeping" there. That helped a lot, but still wasn't quite enough. My problem is I haul so much stuff out there like a 13' x 13' canopy, plastic folding table, a few chairs, radios, vertical antenna and surveyors tripod to mount that on, 100' of coax, lighting (although I reduced that this year), food and drinks, etc., etc. It's quite a major effort for me. For the past several years I've tried to cut down to just the essentials, but when you're getting things together, you think everything is essential.

LarenSo I finally stopped working FT8/FT4 around midnight, with just over 70 contacts in the books with my name on them.
Well, the special event callsign, at least.
Even got my first DX contact in, which was cool. :D
I kinda want to get an amplifier for my x6100 for next year - being able to run a full power station for field day type conditions seems like a cool justification for going from 5w to 100w.
Question is... Amplifier, or different radio? I have to admit, I've become fairly fond of the x6100, for all its quirks. 🤔
