Didn't have a lot of options in mind here, but even if I did I reckon my favourite would still be Death as seen on the Discworld. An anthropomorphic personification of the process of dying known for talking in ALL CAPS, he has a noted fondness for humanity and life in general and more than once got in trouble for his tendency to be "on our side". If one must die, it could be far worse than to be met by such a compassionate gatekeeper for the journey to whatever came next.

This one is easy.

Dudley. From Street Fighter. He's a Black Brit (probably. He's a little ambiguously brown. Potentially Indian?) who wears Boxing gloves at all times. AT ALL TIMES. Including while driving and drinking tea

He's a consciously designed foil to Balrog, the series' vulgar, greedy boxer (based on Mike Tyson) so Dudley is cool, polished, refined, genteel, and uses circular inputs for his moves to further contrast with Balrog. He yells things like "Keep it classy!" while pummeling opponents, throws roses as an actual taunt, and calls opponents "gutter trash." He's excessively British in that Idris Elba kind of way. It's great.

He has sauce, both his design and gameplay. He was why i stuck with Street Fighter 4 as long as i did and would be an instant main character for me (Fighting with Marisa for top spot) if he ever returned to Stay Fighter 6.

He is part of a long (unintentional) tradition of Black Street Fighter characters not having projectiles, and especially not throwing plasma/energy projectiles. Dudley's gloves are all he needs. He's a slick, highly mobile, high damage boxer with great up close tools and a good approach method.

He's a big guy but not huge, especially by Street Fighter standards, dispelling the notion that all i play are brawlers. He's everything i need in a character, including his infamous "Cross Counter" parry.

BRING BACK DUDLEY, CAPCOM

Now for #FavCharacterD for #FavCharacterAtoZ .

I'm going to go with Daav yos'Phelium from the #LiadenUniverse .

First-in Scout, Pilot of Clan Korval, 85th Delm of Korval, lifemate of Aelliana Caylon, father to Val Con yos'Phelium and Theo Waitley, and scholar. He is competent, loving, honest with his friends, and a force to be reckoned with.

If you have not encountered Lee and Miller's Liaden books, do hunt them down. They are a joy.

gonna be boring and go with Princess Diana of Themiscyra AKA Wonder Woman for #FavCharacterD

portrayals of wonder woman are kind of a mixed bag but she gave me weird gender feelings when I was an egg and that is what is important

@ami_angelwings I'm going with Don Ramón, from El Chavo again, for #FavCharacterAtoZ #FavCharacterD. He's a legend. His angry face is, or was, a popular meme.

Yes, could have done with dropping all of the corporal punishment stuff.

Princess Diana of Themyscira, Paradise Island

It couldn't be anyone else. The inspiration for my first tattoo. I could not tell you what my first exposure to the character was, why I already loved her before picking up my first Wonder Woman comic (2006's WONDER WOMAN No. 1). She is like something supernatural in my life, an inspiring presence that has always been there and always will be.

@ami_angelwings Delenn from Babylon 5, who I've found extremely relatable for a whole bunch of complicated and very personal reasons that are difficult to explain. But also, she kicks ass and that's easy to explain

Also I just saw on her Wikipedia page that they were originally considering making the character a trans woman?! :O

This both explains why she's so damn relatable and yet also feels like a missed opportunity 😭 #FavCharacterD

@ami_angelwings My #FavCharacterD is Deku from MHA. There's something about a vulnerable boy that grows through his fear and inability into someone deeply capable and strong that never forgets what it feels like to feel sad and alone, and reaches out to everyone that I find really compelling.

So many other characters like him are Good™ for little stated reason, but Deku really explores that archetype in a way I find it hard to not be moved by.

@ami_angelwings

D is Diane Nguyen from Bojack Horseman. Voice-actor casting aside (she does an amazing job regardless), I've never felt more seen as a mixed race second generation immigrant. Her stubborn sense of justice, even to the detriment of her relationships, resonates hugely with me too. And the depressive episodes...well, fuck.

Daria, the "misery chick"! From the animated series of the same name. I love her attitude, and her bone-deep understanding that everything in high school -- including what's popular, and what all the teachers and authority figures are saying -- is bullshit.
May wind up picking Trent for T as well, if I don't think of anybody else in the meantime.
