@canadaduane

The #fartingmode is referred to threading mode, on Mastodon the concept of a unique thread doesn't exist, you can create new thread from any post.

By default you can see all the threads of your timelines without realizing they belong to a specific threads. Since you can't see the context its is like being in a group of people that are farting because you can't understand what they are talking about.

On Diaspora and Friendica each thread is unique, and even though Friendica allows subthreads, those subthreads are still in their context. Diaspora doesn't allow subthreads so each each threads looks like a forum.

In few words Diaspora and Friendica prioritize the context over the entertainment.

@freezr I don't have enough experience with Friendica, Diaspora, Hubzilla, SocialHome. Can you describe the experience that you wish for? (I don't understand #FartingMode). What works well, and why do you prefer them?

The overall experience it really frustrates me...

What I am trying to say is that Mastodon/Twitter/X like intercommunication works very poorly with Friendica. #Friendica works great with #Diaspora, #Hubzilla, #SocialHome, and itself of course, in few words with the first wave of open-source social networks.

The #FartingMode threading pushed by #Mastodon doesn't suite me, every day I find less interesting the interaction between Friendica & Mastodon, while I use Mastodon even lesser than Diaspora.

Diaspora is an agonized desert but it still looks the saner social network to me...
