These individuals are unable to travel to the US, use Visa or Mastercard, make USD transfers, utilize US-based shipping services like UPS, shop on Amazon, or generally be customers of any US company.
If you were to be sanctioned by the US tomorrow simply for doing your job, you would find yourself in the same predicament.
Sir Charles Tupper, Bt.I'm tentatively heading in the direction of choosing #Fluxer as a replacement for #Discord. It's a bit rough and it will be interesting to see how well it can scale. Its a solo project that has a freemium subscription business model, not using your chat to train AI and sell personal info.
The user interface is similar enough to Discord that it shouldn't be that hard to get started. I haven't looked at the bot API yet, but it supposed to be very similar to Discord as well and reading through the privacy policy, there's nothing too offensive that I see. The company/dev is based in Sweden and intends to comply with EU laws.
There aren't a lot of good alternatives, that are usable today and the fact that #Fluxer is open and should be possible to self-host is enough to draw my attention. Now to convince my friends to switch...
