It's not often I agree with Simon Bridges, but I don't think small business should have to rely on user-pays insurance to fund their recovery from natural disasters. We have #EQC for collectively-funded earthquake insurance, why not replicate or extend that to cover other kinds of natural disasters? This would go a long way towards both universal coverage, and avoiding unpredictable spikes in user-pays insurance premiums. Which I presume are two reasons EQC was set up in the first place.

Jetzt steht sei1 Std ein Kunde bei uns an der Firma vor der Rampe. Wollte was abholen und jetzt funktioniert sein elektrischer #Mercedes #EQC nicht mehr. Die Karre ist wie fest genagelt und macht nix mehr. Hoffentlich kommt der Pannendienst bald. Container wartet schon entladen zu werden 😩

I work from home doing sw dev & sysadmin. Weds our landlord alerted us builders would be under the house to do some belated #eqc repairs. Yesterday morning, our fibre net connection was dodgy, so I asked landlord if builders might've knocked it. Nope, they hadn't started yet. Vodafone's "ninjas" "fixed it" (I could only see IPv6 destinations, no IPv4 was routing). This morning, builders arrived & almost immediately cut the fibre under the house by walking on it. Ugh. No fix for up to 72 hrs.
