I think that any service proclaiming it encrypts and protects data should have to advertise they can also decrypt your data, anywhere the word “encrypt” or “encrypted” appears in their marketing or advertising. Hiding this in their TOS or privacy disclosure makes it seem like they’re hiding it.
Some of them get really testy when you call them out on it. I see it as a major differentiator between services claiming to protect one’s privacy.
