If each time a new privacy-invasive feature is implemented people opted to refuse it, it would soon be discontinued. Each individual opposition to privacy-invasive features matters. It is an act of self-protection but, perhaps even more importantly, it is also an act of protest. A protest against the normalization of mass surveillance and the loss of privacy rights. The fact that there are other cameras around doesn't mean that more cameras or additional scanning is not making things even worse. Chicago, IL – On Thursday, January 22, organizers in Anti-War Committee (AWC), Chicago, United States Palestinian Community Network (USPCN), and BDS Chicago braved the cold to host a press conference demanding that Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs divest state funds from Israel Bonds. They were joined by rank-and-file members of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 73 to announce that they are filing their third ethics complaint against Frerichs for his investments.
