Chicago, IL – On Thursday, January 22, organizers in Anti-War Committee (AWC), Chicago, United States Palestinian Community Network (USPCN), and BDS Chicago braved the cold to host a press conference demanding that Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs divest state funds from Israel Bonds. Time to fuck around has been over for a LONG time. Every single decent person needs to be doing SOMETHING, and doing it AGGRESSIVELY AND RELENTLESSLY. Economic boycott and corporate divestment are key. Its one of the most effective ways you can weaken fascists, its perfectly legal, provides plausible deniability, and you can do it as part of your daily life. Depending on how you do it, it can also be great for making friends and learning skills. Instead of paying them to hurt us, pay a small local business to help keep their lights on. Make a one time donation to an open source software project instead of paying a scammy subscription every month to some assholes. Learn to fix things instead of buying new. It makes a huge difference. But do it now. We are running out of time.
