I’m going to be controversial here:
Have a thought for what our #politicians are subjected to, and maybe empathise a bit while still being critical of their policy decisions — because that is our #DemocraticDuty to criticise policies and decisions.
To put it into context: Have you ever tried to discuss any subject in a rational, logical and thoughtful way with a #RWNJ ? How did that go? Did it leave you frustrated? Were you left confused about the arguments they forced upon you? Did you get the run around with no way to get back to the subject at hand? Were you bombarded by so many examples and statistics that you don’t remember a single on to fact check later on? Did you give up and felt like you’re talking to a wall? Did the RWNJ walk away feeling they’s just won the argument? Sounds familiar?
Well imagine going to the office and dealing with this shit day in, day out, 10 to 16 hours a day (maybe more). That is what a polititian deals with. That is what lobbysts (registered or otherwise) do for a living, they act like the RWNJs for whichever organisation pays them to do so.
Think about the coping mechanisms used by those besieged polititicians and what that does to their deceision-making. They get no training to deal with the constant harrasments, the deluge of information, misinformation, disinformation, political blackmail, and stabs in the back.
Is it any wonder then we are living with systems in decline? Am I happy about all this? No.
Who’d want to be a politician in this day and age?
