1/ So I have been asked a few of times now about why I run "ancient" software on my Debian 13. Why don't I just 'flatpak' it ?

My criteria are:

- What do I want to accomplish with this tool (software) ?

- Is the stable battle-tested version of this tool (which is why you'd use Debian stable <3) able to do what needs to be done?

The first question is about organising and introspection, the second is a binary choice.

Wow, I wrote in to the #Debian backports mailing list asking about a backport of a more recent version of #darktable to #Trixie, and now a week later it has arrived 😁

Any #photographer running #DebianStable and using @darktable you can now upgrade to 5.4.1! I was using the #appimage since my database was from a newer version than the one in stable, but now I can be back on Debian native packages 👌

I've finally cut over from #Manjaro to #Debian Trixie on my desktop PC. The constant updates and frequent long-running compilations for the AUR packages I had really started getting on my nerves, and the Manjaro project seems to be on unsteady ground these days.

Since I'm running Debian or its device-specific derivatives on my servers and #raspberrypi s, I've gotten comfortable with it and am ready for a stable desktop.
