While the video itself is interesting, I also really like how @Lydie uses locally run, solar-powered "AI" tools to do things like change her voice for privacy purposes. This is a very clever use of "AI", and something I can 100% get behind.

Attached: 1 video This is a video about #batteries. As a #renewables #storage professional, a big part of my work is R&D. So I have batteries all over my shop and home. Batteries are my #1 special interest since I was like 5 y/o. *I AI modified my speech on my #solar powered 7900XTX using all open source tools. Data Centers used 0kWh for this work.

I don't want iOS, Google is destroying Android, mobile Linux is just not ready and probably never will be.

In April 2025, we received leaked information about Google taking steps to strip down the Android Open Source Project. We were told the first step would be removal of device support with the launch of Android 16. We didn't get details or confirmation so we didn't prepare early.
We're going to be moving forward under the expectation that future Pixel devices may not meet the requirements to run GrapheneOS (https://grapheneos.org/faq#future-devices) and may not support using another OS. We've been in talks with a couple OEMs about making devices and what it would cost.

If what I think will happen will indeed happen, why would I even buy an Android device over an iPhone? Might as well switch to iOS if Google closes Android to get the better hardware.

Rumour: Google intends to discontinue the Android Open Source Project – OSnews

Wild how many news sites just take "AOSP is not going away" to mean "nothing will change". Anyone with more than two brain cells to rub together can deduce this statement is entirely meaningless, as even closing Google's Android fully and spinning off AOSP into a token organisation with zero Google contributions going forward - known in the business as "doing an Oracle" - is entirely consistent with "AOSP is not going away".

If in 2025 you still take statements from big tech based on best intentions, you're a fool.

Boom.

I've got some awesome help from people for this one, and you know who you are. Thank you.

Rumour: Google intends to discontinue the Android Open Source Project

With the release of Android 16, Google changed how it developed Android. Development is now taking place behind closed doors, with the code dropped after the corresponding version has been released to Pixel devices. Well, it turns out this wasn’t the only thing Google has changed about Android development.
