#Czuba was represented by a public defender who told the #court the suspect was a veteran who served in the US military from 1969 to 1973 & has ongoing medical issues, incl’g a prior diagnosis of prostate cancer, that would make it "potentially difficult to accommodate him in jail."
The judge disagreed, saying Czuba remains a #threat to Shahin & "the community in general" & sent him back to #jail. He is due back in court on Oct 30.
#Shahin also told police she had been texting Czuba's wife about her husband's "hatred for Muslims." Last Wed, Oct 11, Czuba said he wanted Shahin & her son to "move out of the home," Mary #Czuba told investigators. Shahin told deputies that on that same day, Czuba "confronted her about what was going on in the #MiddleEast."

The wife said #Czuba wanted #HanaanShahin & her son to move out of the residence, Fitzgerald said. Czuba believed he & his wife were in danger & believed #Shahin was going to call her #Palestinian friends & family to harm them, he said.
Czuba apparently made a $1k cash withdrawal “in case the US grid went down,” Fitzgerald said.
Czuba was also worried about the “National Day of Jihad” that was supposed to occur on Fri.

#Czuba was charged w/one count each of first degree #murder, attempted murder & aggravated #battery, and two counts related to #HateCrimes, acc/to the sheriff’s office.

When #Shahin emerged from the bathroom after calling police…, she found #Czuba attacking her 6-year-old son, #WadeaAlfayoumi, who later died of his wounds. He had been stabbed 26 times, the Will County Sheriff’s Office said in a stmnt. Shahin, 32, was stabbed at least a dozen times & remains hospitalized in serious condition, the family said.
