Well, we had an interesting occurrence this morning.

My husband and dogs were in the back yard, and a crow fell out of the sky into our yard. It fell where the sprinkler was watering, and the dogs dashed to investigate.

Kali brought the crow out of the sprinkler path and dropped it on the patio. My husband got both dogs inside, got a plastic bag and stopped to tell me about it.

Last year we had discussed what to do if bird flu became prevalent in the area, and we followed our plan, wearing masks and gloves to deal with the dead bird.

But, we got out there and it was gone. I guess it recovered enough to fly off.

I sprayed the area where it was with hypochlorous acid, and sprayed Kali's mouth with it also.

Kali had a vet appointment for a vaccination a short time later, and I asked at the vet clinic if they knew if anyone was testing randomly dead birds, should it happen again. On their advice, I contacted the state department of fish and wildlife, and am waiting to hear back.
