Just got a longer look at the refurb Voyager. The seats are definitely nicer with the New Seat plump & bounce.
Found better legroom in standard airline seating this time.

No changes to the accessible spaces tho.
I was hoping for slightly longer spaces to accommodate scooters better. But much more clearly signposted so hopefully less luggage dropping.

Overall, a decent refresh I think.

Sitting in first class has been a treat with endless hot drinks and smooth travels, until a bit of unexpected excitement at York.

Our train encountered a brake issue, leading to a couple of suspenseful restarts by the driver. Despite the best efforts, the service was eventually cancelled.

My train, initially two linked services from Plymouth, arrived six minutes early and split at Temple Meads.

Train travel is just more civilised than flying. No cramped spaces, no duty-free shops at every turn. Plus, I didn’t need to endure the usual two-hour airport wait—just a quick 15 minutes at the station before boarding, and we travel city centre to city centre. It’s these details that make train travel not just a journey, but a pleasure.

This is from March (there's a more recent one from today on #CrossCountryTrains apalling service).
My question: why buy more diesel units when a lot of the routes are electrified.
With dual power you could go electric Manchester-Birmingham, then diesel to the West country. They do this in continental Europe.
No doubt the reason is cost/profitability and stock availability.

You have no idea of the hoops I've had to jump through to get the "free WiFi" on this train working: thanks to malformed headers, I had to access the headers explicitly from an app (hard on a phone), then retype the correct address learned from there (copy & paste didn't work).
