My new article analyzes the implications of tax exemptions and juridical autonomy conferred in endowment grants in ancient and medieval India. I argue that such endowments served as state recognition and institutional support of Brahmins’ sacred status as a religious profession and a privileged caste. Just read an Australian say that the #US constitution has too many details in it versus the Australian one, which left the details to legislation. Is this a common view in #Australia?

Bc that does not look to be an actual difference--they *both* seem to quite similarly leave details to legislation.

Our US problems look to me to be with structural choices, *not* too much detail--but am I missing something??
