a few years ago, I was using a #CommodoreCDTV to display a slideshow of my collection of 32colors #demoscene logo, at some #Amiga party in France (NASS) ... My dream would be to have the #genlock original extension for CDTV, so I could film people, and have the logo over them sprite-wise. (well, I can use any genlock)
Check it out !
I havent posted some #MIDI experiments since long, so here is my #Theremin plugged to some cheap guitar to midi out adapter, with note signals received by a #CommodoreCDTV (actually an #Amiga500 with MIDI plugs) , using #Octamed software. The great thing is you can see the movement of the equalizer fits perfectly the movements of my arm. Basically, this means this setup could be used as a "touchless analog controller" (note doing X and volume doing Y) wait a minute... that's an excellent idea.
Also the #CommodoreCDTV IR controler can completely switch on and off the #Amiga, use mouse, joystick , key pad and CD audio.
... Yes ! By keeping a 68000 8Mhz and just adding 8Mb FastMem on #CommodoreCDTV , plus a SDCard to SCSI adapter, you can boot a recent #AmigaOS3.2 and then install software on HD like any #Amiga. You also need some adapter for keyboard and mouse. then CDRom will be seen like on AmigaOS. If you switch a button on the SCSI extension, you will boot the classic multimedia Menu. Also the Infrared multimedia pad is recognised by intuition, and there's a special device to manage the front panel, which can continue working if the amiga side is switched off, keep time and date, and has a few bytes of memory. Also #CDTV is the only Amiga with MIDI plugs integrated.
I will do some retro-post about my #Commodore #CDTV #CommodoreCDTV , which is actually some sort of #Amiga500 made to look like a HiFi module, during the #MultiMedia #CDRom Area, that is to say around #1991. The thing is, this is very early in the CDROM history, one of the first generation (so speed is "x1") and you insert the CD in a "caddie". The CD connection is "almost-IDE but not IDE", there is something looking like PCMCIA, but it is not... and 2 very unique expansion ports for video and... SCSI drives. At last, something standard. So can we keep a 68000 cpu 8Mhz, add 8Mb memory and install the latest AmigaOS3.2, to have a full usable Amiga ? ...
...On zenmarket just now, someone is selling a #Pionner #LaserDisc player that also integrates a #Sega #Megadrive ... very cool, never heard about this model. I would totally rack that with my #CommodoreCDTV
