Just as one example: today I caught word, somehow, that Ye said anti-Semitic things on Twitter (and everywhere else). I googled it, read two stories, and have now more or less moved on from it.
I guarantee that today on Twitter they will be talking about nothing else ALL DAY.
I can’t see how that is good for the news business, or for democracy.
It is interesting how my news consumption patterns have changed since I’ve shut down my Twitter account.
Without the continual flow of undigested bits of news on the BirdSite, and the relative lack of news here, I actually find myself reading MORE news directly, more slowly, from the actual source, with far less anxiety. 1/several
