Clutha
While the heavy rain seems to have passed, Clutha rivers are still high with water coming from Central Otago because of the snow melt.
The following wastewater treatment plants in the Clutha district are overflowing:
Balclutha
Kaitangata
Kaka Point
Milton
Owaka
Tapanui
Waihola
Residents should treat floodwaters as though they were contaminated. More info in the story.

Then and Now. In 1976 I had a holiday in Central Otago with a special friend. Nearly 50 years on much has changed, but the beauty of this part of Aoteatora has not. The photos were taken in 1976 and 2024 respectivily, on the same spot on the bridge at Clyde [named after another murderous Englishman, Lord Clyde of the Indian Mutiny and Opium Wars infamy], with the Mata-Au/Clutha flowing underneath.

1st pic shows bee holes, there were lots of mini-bees like miniature honeybees! They were on the bare ground by the gravel road.
