Helping Ss to be safe & thoughtful in a shared community requires explicit skill building rather than quick fix enforcement & punishments.

And punishment can increase probability of bad behavior because punishment increases overall harm of trauma.

The old saying "You can lead a horse to water..."is still true today!

A recent study shows it's difficult for people to change their habits when it comes environmental effects, but financial incentives and peer-pressure work better than just education.

As well, the results suggest that changing attitudes and actions towards littering are easier than getting people to modify their transportation methods.
