Roland Garros, Sinner on court at 12 pm. “I don’t fear the heat.”
AGI - World number one Jannik Sinner continues his quest for his first French Open title today. Arriving at Roland Garros after winning all three clay-court Masters 1000 titles, becoming the second player after Novak Djokovic to complete the nine-tournament level 1000 series, Sinner is the overwhelming favorite to win the final of Paris and appears to have no rivals capable of stopping him. Few would bet against him now that he’s aiming to complete the Career Grand Slam by conquering the only one that remains missing, this year’s French Open.
In 2025 he was defeated in a super tie-break of the fifth set after an epic battle against Carlos Alcaraz. And it is the Spaniard, injured in the wrist and out of action, who is currently the only one capable of challenging and sometimes beating Sinner.
The Challenge with Cerundolo Jr.
After a smooth debut in the first round in the evening session on Court Philippe Chatrier on Tuesday against the French wild card Clement Tabur, Sinner will open today’s matches on Centre Court at 12:00 against Juan Manuel Cerundolo. The only previous match between the world No. 1 and the Argentine, ranked 56th, was a two-set victory on the 128-court at Wimbledon three years ago.
Weather Conditions
“I’m happy to play at night. I’m happy to play during the day, wherever they put me,” said Sinner as discussions about the scorching heat in Paris continue to dominate the opening week. “I think I managed the heat very well in Indian Wells, where it was very hot this year, so there I had no problems. We prepared well. Obviously here the heat is different, but the humidity is not as oppressive as perhaps in Australia or the United States.”
