🏴 #Transport for #Wales (TfW) will install a new Access for All footbridge at #Cathays station, with enabling works starting on 13 June 2026. The scheme will improve accessibility and modernise the station, including step-free lift access, improved walkways, and a direct link to #Cardiff University’s Centre for Student Life.
The project forms part of the South Wales #Metro programme, aimed at delivering a more reliable, faster, greener and more #accessible rail network.
Work will be delivered in phases. Early works from June will include site setup, pedestrian diversions and initial excavation, while keeping the station operational. Main construction is scheduled for autumn 2026, when the new bridge, lifts and associated structures will be installed. TfW will provide regular updates on any disruption.

Really enjoyed doing the RSPB Big Birdwatch with the Cathays Wild Gardeners group today. Hoping to join the regular volunteering sessions this year.
Spent much of the day staring at a screen so treated myself to a mid-afternoon walk in the sunshine to admire the emergence of springtime…
Three highlights from my morning run:
- Green woodpecker in #Cathays cemetery
- Stunning cormorant at #Roath Park Lake
- Mid-run break to help an old boy push his broken-down car out of the road by #HeathPark
