donkey@openpolicynz That’s a really great idea - our discussion paper was going to propose having the instance hosted on #CatalystCloud so it remains within NZ borders. Having it actually looked after/administered by Archives is very cool. I’ll add that to the list of ideas. :) @lightweight @davemosk @jet
He’s very keen and loves the idea - he’s going to sound out MBIE and the other moderators at their meeting next week. We’re hoping to get social.govt.nz as a domain and then any registered NZ government agencies can get on board the #Mastodon instance.

StrypeyKia ora @aurynn Good to see cloudisland is hosted on the Catalyst Cloud. Great to see another instance based in Aotearoa. I'd love to know more about how it's run and how it was set up. I've aspired for a long time to run some member-owned services at disintermedia.net.nz
@resist1984 I only signed up because it seemed useful to have access to testing servers that don't cost me anything beyong the initial sign-up. $9 a year is still a pretty good deal, but the thing is, if they can add this fee, what other fees can they arbitrarily add later? For production servers I'd probably use #CatalystCloud back home.
@lightweight I've got an account at #CloudAtCost for testing, and a voucher for #CatalystCloud I got at an event and haven't used yet. Video tutorials would be great! Love to see them on a #PeerTube site, for sure.
