Huge scoop by rhe Canadaland team : what does training up a new generation of Canadian airline mechanics take? Apparently, it takes scammed procurement, nepotism, illegal profiteering, plagiaraized training materials, and AI hallucinations.
Feel safer yet?

Give this a listen. It starts off wild and then it really takes off.
Also, please boost and please support independent Canadian journalism, because it’s almost all we have left.

“Everybody needs to know about this. We need to shut this down. This is aviation. This is training. There are safety issues here.” -Jeff Weeks, Aviation Executive
I'm not a regular listener of this podcast but I did find this one worth listening to. Remember, when the host interviewed Jesse Brown a few months back about his antisemitism series he wasn't really equipped to argue with him. But here he's interviewing a guy who is a bit older and more experienced who is able to give a grounded critique of the problematic Canadaland series.

I learned a LOT from this episode from #CanadaLand

"What do you really know about oil? Given that it seems to be driving so much of our geopolitics and fuelling a large part of our economy, what do you need to know about it?"
I just made an account on the #Forkiverse (or #TheForkiverse). I feel a bit bad because apparently they're planning to cap out at 2000 people, but I wanted to at least check it out for a second
Very cool initiative. I am happy to make an #introduction to everyone over there (worded awkwardly to get the right hashtag in there)
I didn't know about these guys or their particular projects before today (when I saw an old friend, on the fediverse, talking about this podcast!), but one of the things I have used some of my free time is doing is trying to push #Canadaland Media, owned by @bsky.app.profile.jessebrown.bsky.social, to try to put some organization muscle - and even the tiniest spoonful of enthusiasm - into a pivot towards the fediverse. I think it'd be really cool, and I don't know why it can't happen when other small Canadian outfits like the @HalifaxExaminer have done it
but it is nice to know what can happen when you have that NYT money to throw around
Really good episode of Bad Hasbara this week on Jesse Brown's bullshit.
If you're going to dip in just for a few minutes, I recommend starting at the 58 minute mark, where they talk about his bias and how he holds up his ignorance on the subject of the Israeli ethnic cleansing campaign as being a BASIS for his latest podcast series with out questioning what he might be missing and/or his emotional state on the subject.

Listen to Bad Hasbara - The World's Most Moral Podcast - 169: A Jesse Brown Christmas, with Rachel Gilmore by Matt Lieb on Podcast Addict. Good grief! After 2 years of being begged by our Canadian listeners to talk about the tragic downfall of their favorite (favourite?) podcast Canadaland, we decided to gift you all an extra long episode all about Jesse Brown. Our guest is Canadian journalist Rachel Gilmore, one of the many journalists who Jesse has attacked for reporting on the pro-Israel blinders of the Canadian po

I listened to this podcast from last week, a somewhat hostile interview with JB, but I'm not sure it really did it for me. I appreciate the effort, but I think JB was able to run circles around the guy.
