Is anybody able to access the #CalyxyOS #fdroid repo or is it gone for good ( and the OS dead ) ?
Seen no announcements from the #calyxinstitute about what is going on since last Augusts disruption.
@simsus

@the In part because of the state of my home but in part over my mostly seasonally flaring medical conditions, even as I have been pretty continually using computers of this general type consistently for about 15-20 years, I've not had them enabled to make calls for over about 10 of those years.
This is also why/how I know virtual keyboards don't work often for me at all, because of how often I've had them fail me.
*Most of when I regularly had them enabled, physical keyboards were common.
This adds to why I really do consider them very separate but also why as I basically look to complete my transition away from big tech operating system ran computers, beyond my enjoyment of having #CalyxyOS for a while on one device, I really do need this to be a complete transition to having my computers back under my control.
*When you've got Google or other AI/LLMs embedded in said setups & automatic by the provider set times for updates, you don't at all have that control at all.

@rraggl You think it's an attitude problem of mine, that you don't understand what "preset" means, nor the concepts of #DisabilityAccessibility or #Budgetable ????
To repeat & summarize realism for who I am & where I live: After I get enough new & thusly functional electric circuits put into my home to plug-in a desktop computer, get said desktop computer with a #linux distro on it (likely costing under $150) , I will most likely get a $70 -$250 smartphone setup, with #CalyxyOS, because I don't have the money to burn on a $900 setup (like #Fairphone & #Swiftphone) that'd still be inferior than the $70 one for my #DisabilityAccessibilty needs.
@PC_Fluesterer @beardedtechguy Im not an expert I this, but I would clearly bet that some of those #privacy focused ROMs are much, much better than #iOS .
At the very least the more stringent ones, like #grapheneos , #CalyxyOS , ...
Btw. if I had a Fairphone, I would run #CalyxyOS on it. Like e/OS/, it's an Android distro, but more secure and privacy-oriented.
Unfortunately, I'm not aware of a way to buy a @Fairphone with @calyxos pre-installed.
If you join @calyxinstitute, you get a Google Pixel 6a with CalyxOS pre-installed, but an even better OS for that phone would be @GrapheneOS IMHO.
